Architectural Hybrid

Introduction to Architecture
Summer 2018
The architectural hybrid was a two-part project. The first part was to engage in a material study, in which the task was to pick two materials and connect them to one another. The materials I examined were netting and hot glue. I experimented with the plasticity of the glue and observed the different shapes that were created when it dried over the netting.
Material Study
The second part of the project was to translate the material study into an architecture that could house a sports venue. To translate my material study into architecture, I inverted the model and removed the walls and supports. This created a series of vaults of varying shapes and sizes. The sport I chose to enclose was badminton. The vaults vary in shape and size and overlap with one another, as they do in the glue model.
